The Edinburgh Castle
The restoration of a traditional Victorian public house to its former glory.
This beautifully restored public house first opened its doors to customers in 1811 and is situated in the centre of Ancoats.
The pub was once an important part of Britain’s first industrial district, and in modern times has become an important community asset in the heart of Manchester’s most thriving and growing city neighbourhood, after lying derelict for some time.
Under the management of the owners of the popular Cottonopolis restaurant and cocktail bar in the Northern Quarter, this traditional pub has been given a new lease of life and now serves a wide selection of craft beer, cask ale and whisky, as well as housing The Cutting Room restaurant on the first floor.
The regeneration of this iconic and historic public house has provided Ancoats with a much needed focal point and meeting place, a true asset for the exciting community that has sprung up around it in recent years.
