Lousia Street
An award-winning development of twenty four contemporary terraced homes in Openshaw, Manchester.
Home Louisa is an innovative development scheme consisting of twenty four properties built in Openshaw, Manchester Step Places were granted planning permission to proceed with a bold, distinctive design; and to create several modifications to the adjacent roads, maximising added values and enhancing the scheme. Our innovative design approach, saw the architectural style of the houses take inspiration from the more traditional terraced stock which sits opposite, by mimicking the street pattern of the houses. Completed 2015
Modern and sustainable materials were used throughout the construction process, including Wienerberger brick and recycled cement cladding, with high performance window systems and air source heat pumps. Internally, available space within the floor layouts was maximised, allowing for contemporary open plan living arrangements, each with high levels of natural light and built to Lifetime Homes Standards.
Home Louisa was carefully marketed to first time buyers and families alike, to encourage home ownership in an area of Manchester which traditionally has low levels of home occupation. With a design-led product on offer, we were able to market the properties at an affordable price, which was aided further by offering Help to Buy on the development.
In August 2015, Secretary of State, The Right Honourable Greg Clarke MP, visited Home Louisa during a trip to Manchester, commented on the ‘particularly impressive degree of partnership working demonstrated between Step Places and Homes England demonstrated throughout the whole lifecycle of the project’. In January 2016, Home Louisa was awarded the accolade of ‘Residential Housing Development of the Year’ at the Insider North West Property Awards.
